I believe every phase within the menstrual cycle offers us the potential for altered states of consciousness.
We can feel altered at ovulation and the height of our fertility, or in the nuanced sensitivity of the premenstruum, or during the tender beginnings of the follicular, or on any given day within the cycle for that matter.
Menstruation, however, with its visual cue of blood and clear deviation from our more accustomed states of being, presents a rather explicit reminder — we are different now. A process is taking place of which our minds do not orchestrate.
How comfortable are we in this place? What arises? What challenges us? What expectations do we layer it with?
Altered is a program I first offered in 2023. Since its conception, it has continued to evolve and take shape. I often feel it has a life of its own, and my responsibility is to simply listen to how it wants to express.
The fourth expression begins on March 20th.
Over seven weeks, we explore the liminality and inherent materiality of menstruation, and the way it connects us — to each other and to the various doorways we will cross / have crossed in the arc of our lives as women: menarche, fertility, gestation and birth, menopause, death and the spaces between. Together, we follow a journey of a (our) feminine soul and the potential of wisdom-power-potency offered to us through female life passages, as well as the various inherited and constructed barriers we interface with along this continuum.
I am honored to share that our fifth session will be taught be an extraordinary teacher, Dr. Lara Owen, a brilliant mind and true pioneer within the contemporary movement of menstruation.
This is a rich, multi-layered and expansive program. Drawing on academic research, anecdotal observation, seven years of experience in the field, as well as poetry, self-study and the mineral content of my own life-path, I invite you to join the fourth cohort of Altered.
This will be the only time I offer it this year.
You can learn more and enroll here. Spaces are limited to ensure intimacy. The early enrollment rate ends on February 28th.
